Civil Conspiracy

Under California law, civil conspiracy is a legal doctrine not an independent tort. The doctrine holds that each member of the conspiracy is directly responsible as a joint a wrongdoer even if he or she did not commit the actual wrongful act.  A plaintiff may hold a defendant liable if he or she was harmed by the tortious conduct of a third party and the defendant and third-party had an agreement to commit a wrong (tort) against the plaintiff.
