Q: How does my new husband's income matter when calculating my children’s fathers child support amount?

A: A new spouses income has no direct impact on a child support obligation.  It is the parents of children who have the direct legal obligation to support children of the marriage.

A new spouses income may have an indirect impact on child support obligation amount in that it may reduce or increase tax liability.  If tax liability is reduced, one parent will have more disposable income.  This may potentially reduce the other parents.  If tax liability increases, the support amount may go up because that parent has less disposable income for child support purposes.
